What is glasses-free 3D?
|
|
3D comes and goes in and out of fashion. The main 'put-off' is having to wear 3D glasses or having to use a 3D viewer to see images in true solid form. Your photographs and all traditional art is really flat 2D where the artist has used perspective and other clever methods so we can perceive 3 dimensional representations of our physical world. The problem comes because we have two eyes and we perceive the world with two views, one from each eye. Our brains are very good at combining the two images to create a single understanding of what we see. This provides us with a sense of depth. Mol Smith's 'glasses-free' art and products uses clever contemporary lenticular screens over artwork and images modified skillfully to 'throw-out' information to each of our two eyes. The screens are made from micro-lenses enabling you to look at a picture and immediately see it in true 3D, like real life. No mobile phone or electronic device is required. You simply look at the picture and amazingly - it is solid, real... 3D! [home]

Questions
|
|
It seems quite expensive, why?
I wish I could make it cheaper. I import the lenticular screens from the USA. The freight charges plus import taxes push up the costs for the special frames. The time it takes to turn your picture in considerable and done by hand, not a machine or a computer. The ink, paper, mount, and frame add to the cost, plus shipping costs sending it to you.
Will the 3D image last?
Yes! Only top quality materials are used, both ink and paper. The 3D image should last a life-time or longer.
What if I am unhappy with the result?
Simple. Most people are not cheats, so if you feel the work has not met your expectations, the amount you paid can be returned.
What resolution of image should I send?
The highest quality or size eother in pixels width and height or DPI (dots per inch). If you don't know, send a picture and Mol Smith (me) will reply and let you know if I can do that one?
Where are you based?
Wantage, Oxfordshire, in the UK.
