This 1890 painting, Seated Dancer in Pink Tights, features a dancer sitting on a sofa, as if contemplating something. She looks lonely, a feeling that is contrary to traditional depictions of dancers.  Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec was among the popular painters during the Post-Impressionist movement, along with Gauguin, Van Gogh and Cezanne. His favourite subject was the Parisians. He loved to paint people at parties and other affairs of Paris during those times.
